Common questions
My fridge is not cooling but the light is on. What's wrong?
Most often it's a dirty condenser coil, a failed evaporator or condenser fan, or a defrost problem. Check that the vents inside aren't blocked by food, then call us. Food is at risk after a few hours above 40°F.
My washer won't drain. Is it safe to keep using it?
Stop running cycles. Usually the drain pump filter is clogged or the pump has failed. Many front-loaders have a small filter door at the bottom front you can check first.
My dryer is running but not heating. Can you fix it?
Yes, it's one of the most common dryer repairs. On electric dryers it's usually the heating element or a thermal fuse; on gas dryers, the igniter or gas valve coils. A clogged vent is often what caused it, so we check that too.
Can you come today?
Often, yes. Call or send a request before noon for the best chance at a same-day visit.
Should I repair it or buy a new one?
A good rule: if the appliance is under about 10 years old and the repair costs less than half of a new one, repair usually wins. We'll give you an honest call either way.
